Ida Miraflor Calumpang - del Olmo, was born to humble beginnings. Her parents, Andres Limbaga Calumpang and Maria Paz Valencia Miraflor were both teachers before during American Philippines. She graduated from high school in 1951 from East Negros Institute in Tanjay City, Philippines. She finished from the same school two years later with an Elementary Teacher's Certificate which gave her the position to teach in grade school. Two years on, she graduated with a degree in Education. She was fondly called "Inday Ida" by close family and friends.

Ida first taught at Barrio Jones Elementary School which was then under the supervision of the Town of Tanjay. Some years went on and Barrio Jones became a separate town making-up what is now the Town of Pamplona in Negros Oriental, Philippines. Jones Elementary School then became Pamplona Central School. Ida taught another 14 years there.

As the years went by, she met one of her high school classmates. The tall, dark and handsome guy with mixed Spanish and Mexican descents was Narciso del Olmo y Mastache who caught Ida's hand in marriage. They were married in 1962. Years of joy, sacrifices and successes, Ida and Narciso never had any children.

In the 1970s, Ida decided to follow her husband who was the teaching at Mindanao State University in Marawi City, Mindanao, Philippines. There, she became a Spanish professor at the College of Arts and Sciences of the said university. She taught there with her husband until his death in 1984. Ida soon followed to retire in 1989.

Ida's life as a retiree was baffled with various circumstances on her health. But amidst these, she remained strong and bound to God. During the last stages of her life, she made sure that God was at the center of it. And indeed, Inday will never be forgotten. We'll miss you most Inday. We love you!
